There are certain hair products that are complete game changers. Dry shampoo is one of them. It’s the perfect product for those with busy lifestyles that want to refresh their tresses between washes (think after the gym or on hectic mornings), to add an instant boost of fullness to your hair cut in Boca Raton FL. Since using dry shampoo extends the need to wash your hair, it’s also an excellent option for individuals with color treated hair.

As much as our clients at Salon Sora swoon over their dry shampoo, we find that many of them have a lot of questions on how to use the product properly. Our knowledgeable team of stylists at Salon Sora have listened to all of the questions and today we are answering them so you can master dry shampoo once and for all.

How to properly use dry shampoo

– Use dry shampoo between washes. You can even use it on clean, dry hair to achieve a lived-in look to spice up your new hair cut in Boca Raton FL.

– Use dry shampoo to build volume in all hair types.

– Spray dry shampoo 6-8 inches from the roots of your hair and on the crown of your scalp.

– Do massage dry shampoo into your hair to work the product into your hair for maximum oil absorption.

– Allow the product to perform its magic by allowing it sit on your strands for a few minutes before styling.

– Use dry shampoo as a replacement to regular washes with shampoo and conditioner.

– Use dry shampoo on hair that is wet or damp. The product is designed to be used on hair that is completely free of moisture.

11 Spring/Summer Hair Trends Perfect for South Florida

By | Hair Care, Hair Color, Hair Styles | No Comments

As the seasons change, new trends start to role in, especially in the beauty sphere. As one of the top hair salons in Boca Raton, FL, we stay on the forefront of what’s trending each season. We’re excited to announce that this spring/summer brings several sizzling styles that we are loving for our fashion-forward Boca Raton clients.  Here are just a few pictures of the colors and styles we created for our discriminating clients by the staff at Salon Sora….

2017 Hair Trends for Boca Raton, FL

Hair Color Trends

Balayage- This modern day highlighting technique is achieved by hand-painting hair for a dimensional custom color. This color trend has been around for a few seasons and it’s not going anywhere anytime soon. Hair coloring is one of the most popular services that we perform at Salon Sora, one of the top hair salons in Boca Raton FL, and we have noticed that many of our clients are opting for cool blonde and honey colored balayage.

Color Melt– This coloring technique seamlessly blends three or more similar colors. It can start from light to dark or dark to light, but a deeper root with lighter ends is the most popular version that we see. This low maintenance look looks best on medium to long hair and looks stunning with vivid colors.

Vivid Colors- For those who like to walk on the wild side, there is no better time to release your inner unicorn with an alternative hair color. If you are bold, consider the holographic hair trend (yes, it’s a thing!) or if you prefer something more muted, try rose gold or pink strands. We offer both permanent and temporary color options, so you can keep your unicorn mane for as little or as long as you’d like.

Hair Cut Trends

Pixie Cut- If you are ready for a look that is easy and breezy for spring/summer, consider a pixie cut. This short haircut is manageable and looks chic on platinum blonde locks.

The Chop- Frist came the lob and then there is the chop. This cut is slightly longer than a lob with lots of textured layers. It’s the perfect length for South Florida because it’s long enough to put up in a pony on hot summer days.

Long Layers- For women who prefer long locks and want a subtle change, consider adding some long layers. This will give your hair texture and looks great on all hair textures.

Bangs- If you are ready for a fresh new look for the season, but don’t want to commit to a major chop, consider some bangs. From blunt bangs to long fringe bangs, adding bangs is an easy way to change things up.

Picture4Hairstyle Trends

Blow out– Who doesn’t love a good blow out? Smooth strands with rounded ends is a classic look for spring and summer.

Pin Straight Hair- Super straight hair is back in a style! When straightening your hair at home, always use a smoothing serum that protects your hair from heat damage. Phytodefrisant by Phyto of Paris and Flat Out by Goldwell are two excellent products to help you achieve the ultimate sleek look you are seeking.

Braids- A braided hairstyle is a spring/summer staple and it’s the perfect way to stay cool as the temperature starts to rise in South Florida.

Hair Accessories- It’s all about releasing your inner flower child as ribbons and flower crowns dominate the hair accessory game this spring/summer. To embrace this boho trend, try weaving a piece of lace into your braid or tie a piece of ribbon around your pony tail. Of course, if you are headed to a music festival (think Sunfest), a flower crown is always a good choice.

5 Tips for Hair Nutrition Found in Your Grocery Store

By | Hair Care | No Comments

If you’re looking to have healthy hair, there are a lot of things you can do to create nutrients with products you can get right from your local grocer. While some people may still use things like beer and eggs to make hair stronger there’s some other products you may not have thought to use. In this week’s blog we share a few of Salon Sora’s tips that might help you.

  • Coconut Oil
  • Castor Oil
  • Lemon Juice
  • Fenugreek Seeds
  • Banana

It seems that coconut oil is great for a multitude of uses including a hair remedy.  We suggest using this incredible product as a hair strengthening conditioner. The Salon Sora recipe treats dry scalp and psoriasis giving the hair follicles a chance to hold in the moisture from the natural product. Try it yourself by mixing a cup of coconut oil with enough hot water to melt it down. Apply to the hair and leave on for up to 30 minutes. Then rinse completely. You’ll notice a difference almost immediately and your hair will love it.

Castor oil is yet another excellent substance found right at the supermarket. This is a great cure to rid dandruff and can also help with psoriasis. Seborrheic Dermatitis patients can also benefit and prevent the infection from spreading. Jamaican Black Caster Oil is an excellent product and you can buy from AMAZON. For severe cases or if the scalp gets worse, contact your doctor right away.

Lemon Juice is an incredible fruit with its amounts of B2 complex and vitamin C attributes. Lemon juice can be used as a hair lighter for blondes and red heads. But, it’s ideal for oily hair when mixed with egg white. Let us know how it works out for you.

When mixed with water, Fenugreek seeds can add shine and make hair appear sleek and soft. It’s also an excellent solution for treating eczema.

Stay away from high sugar and preservatives that can take a toll on your hair, scalp and skin. Remember to use a good shampoo and conditioner twice a week, unless you sweat a lot or work out regularly.

A mashed banana is yet another super food ideal for those wanting to rid a bad case of the frizzies. Next time those favorite fruits are starting to get ripe and brown, mash them with a fork and leave on hair for 15 minutes. You’ll be impressed with the smooth look,

Reasons Why Your Hair is Having a Bad Day

By | Hair Care | No Comments

keratin treatments boca ratonThere are many factors our hair has a bad day from time to time. Where you live, what you eat and your lifestyle can all play a part of your hair getting out of control. We’ve all been there no matter what the cut, style, straight, curly, color or natural aspects are of our beautiful locks. Everyone is entitled to a bad hair day. If you’re finding yourself weeping or whining in front of your mirror, then you’ll want to let Salon Sora come to your rescue. Before wearing a ponytail or tucking under a baseball cap, read this blog.

Check your diet for a reason why your hair is reacting in an awkward manner. Many people don’t realize things like alcohol, too much greasy food or even gluten can play a huge part of how your hair may react. From the follicles to the ends your hair need to have the proper nutrients and care to be healthy, grow properly and look gorgeous 24/7. Medication is also another problem that can cause your hair to be out of control. If you’ve ever been pregnant before, and took pre-natal pills, you might recall how well your hair and nails grew. Ask your doctor or physician if your current diet or meds are causing you to have a lack of the proper nutrients.

Another reason for bad hair days is the weather. If you live in a place like South Florida, you are already used to this as a part of normal and daily living. Solutions could be cutting your hair into a shorter more manageable style to wearing it in a different way. The bun, the pony and the braid can be your best buddy if your hair is longer. Bobby pins and other hair accoutrements will make life easier if you’re in a hurry.

Your shampoo may be wrong for you. Certain shampoos and conditioners can make life unbearable if they’re not right for the texture of your hair. Cheap shampoos can contain a lot of bad chemicals and products like alcohol which can be drying. You don’t necessarily need suds to be clean and shampoos containing sulfates can seem like the hair isn’t getting clean when on the contrary it is.

One last point to make is you hair may be in desperate need of a new hair cut. While the hair grows, it can also change in texture, and the way it lays on the head. Let your stylist know if there have been any significant changes.

Salon Sora’s Secret to a Successful Brazilian Blowout

By | Hair Care | No Comments

If you live in a place like Boca Raton or anywhere in South Florida for that matter, many of you have heard of the term “Brazilian Blow Out”. This type of hair treatment will give someone who has a curly or frizzy texture to your hair and make it appear naturally straight and ultra-healthy. That being said, there are a few things you should know in order for you to have a success when getting this technique done. In this blog we uncover the Salon Sora way to achieving the soft, flowing and pin straight hair you’ve always dreamt of.

People who make good candidates for Brazilian Blowouts would be people who have damaged, frizzy, over-processed and coarse or curly hair.

You can use this treatment even if you’ve had color or highlights added to the hair. In fact, many times this type of hair treatment will restore the hair health and make it more manageable.

People with extreme curls, the hair won’t be straight. I repeat, the hair won’t be straight! It will however make your curly locks more manageable because of the amino acids that become fortifying and nourishing to the hair.

If you are using a relaxer, then the hair will need to be neutralized to complete the treatment. This treatment is a great alternative to those wanting to get away from relaxers.

Volume is another issue many people ask about. Supposedly it’s because they are concerned with going from frizz to fabulous hair thinking that it will flatten their look. Whatever your hairs natural volume is will be maintained after the treatment is applied.

Coloring the hair is safe to use after you’ve indulged in one of these treatments. So no issue with this. However, it’s recommended to wait up to two weeks before applying color. In this case speaking to your colorist or stylist will certainly help.

Anytime you’re using products such as chemicals, it’s best to work with a professional to ensure the safety of your hair and achieving the optimum results you’re looking for.

Don’t get disappointed by DIY treatments claiming to do the same. A professional should be the only person who understands the process and its effects is the only true way that you can get that beautiful strong and straight hair.

Salon Sora’s 3 Tips for Blow Drying Your Hair You Can’t Afford to Miss

By | Hair Care, Hair Styles | No Comments

Salon Sora Boca RatonWhen it comes to living in a place like South Florida, you can’t allow your hair to dry naturally and expect it to look great. If you’re looking for that perfect cut, you also need to know just how to blow dry and style your hair. Otherwise, you’ll end up with frizz, flat, freaky and hair that will make you scream. On this blog we give you 3 tips that will help make blow drying your hair faster and more attractive.

Tip 1.) Use a Leave-In Conditioner

Tip 2.) Use a Brush That’s Right for Your Hair.

Tip 3.) Section the Hair with Clips Before You Start

Instructions: Start with the bottom back layers and twirl your hair with the blow dryer following down the shaft of the hair. Simultaneously keep sliding the brush, working down to the ends. Next, do the same, but in the opposite direction. Repeat with all sections of the hair. For the smaller hairs near your temples, use a small curling brush to straighten the little baby hairs in this area. If you have long hair do one side, then the other. Don’t attempt to blow dry the hair at the same time. If you want to have more volume, than take a section at the crown of the head and blow dry straight up.

Using a leave-in conditioner is really important. This is particularly true for people living in places like Boca Raton or any beach towns. Leave-in conditioners create a barrier for your hair against the UV rays that can damage it.

Finding the right brush can often times be challenging. Ask your stylist what he/she recommends to get the optimum results you desire.

Sectioning the hair in smaller areas not only help you get a straighter look, it also cuts back blow dry time. It’s much faster for your dryer to work in smaller sections than blow drying your entire head. Even flipping the hair over and blow drying it from the back won’t help the hair dry as fast.

The look is a head full of straight hair that is super sexy and will stand up in the hot Florida sun.

Top Tips For Luxurious Hair | Boca Hair salon | Salon Sora

Who doesn’t wish for long, luxurious hair! Most women at some point in their lives have tried to grow out their hair. Unfortunately most don’t know the correct way to insure that it is shiny and healthy. Almost everyone’s hair grows at the same rate of one half inch per month. The trick is trying to keep the hair that is growing from becoming dull and lifeless and to keep it from breaking. I often hear my clients complain, “my hair just isn’t growing” while they are sitting in my chair with one inch of gray roots! I explain to them that it is in fact growing which is obvious from their gray roots but that the products and hot tools they are using or perhaps because they refuse to cut it that its becoming split and snapping off. So how does someone keep their hair healthy…
